優點:
- Good, film like, pictures
- battery lasts forever!
- the rubber door is now more secure then G1
- Large aperture
- The Black color looks great with all Canon standard accessories (lens adapter, flash etc)
- comes with remote, which is very useful for playback on TV.
- The LCD can be viewed on outdoors even in broad daylight.
- the metering has been improved since G1
- The direct print with my 820D (plus Photo Paper Pro) gives me great flexibility to produce photo pictures within minutes.

缺點:
- bulky
- slow start up time (even though it's already faster than my G1)
- with the size (and 1 generation after G1) I would expect at least 4X optical zoom... so that is a disappointment for me.
- The ISO noise on 200 is already bad, on 400 it is almost unuseable... unless you have no choice.

缺點:
1. shutter speed not fast enough (1/1000 need to use f/8.0, 1/800 at f/5.0, f/4.0 or below can use up to 1/400 ....)
2. focus too slow, and not accurate
3. using ISO400 too many noise (ISO 200 start to have some)
4. lens with 34 - 102 is not enough for semi-professional camera

優點:
高質素ＣＣＤ，很難找到可以匹敵的機種。
重量分佈平均，手感非常好。
內置閃燈火力不錯，遇上不方便帶外置燈出門亦可以暫時頂替。
機頂掣及顯示均清淅易用，適合初學人士。
電池容量及其耗電量低，短期出門亦可以不用帶後備電。

缺點:
機身出現先天問題，其中在左上角容易出現崩裂。
系統反應速度不足，相對其他旗艦級半專業機較為失色。
人手對焦設定過於麻煩，有形同於無。
觀景窗不能提供數據顯示，而且觀景範圍與實際攝影範圍相距太多，令用家在攝影時（尤以不用ＬＣＤ者）帶來不便。
