Your dstance from the model can be the same as U want to take picture of of her top half or even the whole body. But her distance from the cars should be longer so that the focal plane (ie. the clear zone) will be away from the cars and consequently the cars will be blurred. Try it!

其實個女仔都企得好遠我,因佢試過企得近我,個景可以好淺,但只可以影到個膞頭以上的地方,不可影到半身!



想問如果想企返近女仔約5米左,而又可以影到佢半身,全身重好,是否一定要買個支大光圈鏡短鏡呢?

There're 3 ways to get shallow depth of view: 1. large aperture, 2. long focal length, 3. close to the subject. In your case, I think the model is getting too close to the cars. U should ask her to get farther away from the cars. Then, U stand close to the model and U should get what U want, even if your lens doesn't have large aperture, eg. F2.8 or even F1.4.
