優點:
1. Zoom range!!! (the major reason I bought it!)
2. Very good battery life. Shot almost 300 pics and still got 80% power.
3. Very fast and accurate auto focus in bright day light.
4. Tilting screen with varying angle.
5. Fast aperature at the wide end (2.8) and still acceptable aperature (6.5) at the 2000mm end. Not bad!
6. Very good grip design, large and deep.
缺點:
1. Zoom speed can be faster.
2. The zoom back button idea (for checking the target during extreme tele zoom) is great (borrowed from Canon actually) but its speed is a bit slow and therefore not too useful.
3. Obviously lens is much heavier than body so the entire camera is unbalanced.
4. EVF resolution is 920K which is far behind some Panasonic and Olympus EVFs. Usable but not great.
5. The minimum focusing distance is too large and makes it not the ideal camera for flowers, insacts and small objects. The long zoom 2000mm is best for objects very far (like the moon) but if you want to take pictures for objects within several meters and enlarge the magnification using long zoom you will find it not possible to focus due to short distance. To me this is the biggest drawback of this camera because I am not using it for the moon all the time, I took it to the Wetland Park and found it is no better than my EM5 with Panasonic 100-300 combo.
6. Size and weight, more than 800 grams and the only saving on weight is that you don't need other lenses.
7. Poor QC by Nikon, the first P900 I obtained had failure in EVF. The EVF went totally dead and I had to exchange for a new unit. Hope this one goes well.
8. Picture quality is poor. I think my cellphone's PQ is better that the P900. The only problem is without the zoom. To be fair, I think P900 pictures look good if you are viewing them with smartphones but once you view them with large monitor the result is disappointing.
評價:
I want to get the Panasonic FZ1000 because of its excellent PQ, constant f2.8 aperature throughout the zoom range, excellent EVF and 4K movie capability. However since I already own the M4/3 gears with lens up to 300mm (600mm equilvalent), I think I should skip the FZ1000. So I purchased this 2000mm P900. If given the choice again I would pick up the FZ1000. The responsiveness of the Panasonic is also much faster and therefore happier in use.
The P900 is definitely a pioneer in the super zoom DC category but deal to its weaknesses above it does not gain my recommendation.
Hope this gives help to those who are thinking about either getting the FZ1000 and P900.
