1.這是一顆已經停產的尼康老鏡頭，保值性極佳，尼康也未再出18mm,鏡頭來取代

優點:
AF18mm/2.8D拍的影像變形少(數據上比1424還好，拜鑄膜非球面鏡片修正影像所致)，新一代G鏡頭變形較大，靠相機變形控制改善，這樣拖慢連拍速度，耗電快後遺症是：同一電池可拍攝張數少。
2.8f光圈下的影像，中間位細緻，到邊緣就較為鬆散，光圈收致4f以後，影像的邊緣已經可以收貨，但不要和1635/4比較，新一代的G鏡是銳利的。
拍攝夜景的星芒很好看，這是七片光圈葉的構造所賜，非近期變焦G鏡可比；但AF18mm/2.8D的星芒的末端是散射的，不及鑽石廣角星末端是呈尖銳。

Nikon 自動對焦鏡頭中，擁有18mm超廣角焦段的變焦鏡頭有數支，而18mm定焦鏡頭只有一支，在2006年卻停產，原因據説是售價高、及評為十大爛鏡之一，據說AF18mm/2.8D停產時只有7000支產量，在相隔了8個年頭要在市場上，要找到新淨的二手AF18mm/2.8D就變得十分困難。近兩年新淨的18mm鏡頭價格由$6XXX一路升到近乎10K，本人十分驚異鏡頭價格升值如坐火箭，可是問一句，真有市場嗎？
AF18mm/2.8D雖然只有380g，入手卻沈實得很，可能是全金屬鏡身及短小的58m鏡身長度所致，而黑色防銹焗漆亦非現時G鏡膠質感可比。入手傳說中十大爛鏡頭是要點點勇氣，可是扭上AF18mm/2.8D在D800E拍出的第一個影像，就知道那點點勇氣變成好運氣。

It works well on my D700 and I love it, even it's the design from more than 10 years ago. It's handy and maneuverable with its large aperture and wide-angle. Looking at Nikon's marketing strategy, the high-priced large aperture prime lens are going to be discontinued one after one (just check out the already gone 28mm f/1.4 and 14mm f/2.8) and replaced by the zoom one only. I really miss the old 35mm days.....
