Fast, silent & sharp

Expensive, no hood & EFS

bought (2nd) @ $3200, but cannot imagine the original price is around $4200 but no hood. Not L series but can still take sharp pictire.

貴、17mm成像不好

使用了一年，鏡身確重，但重得來有舊鏡feel。光圈確較細(須然有IS)。

3. 17-85mm x 1.6 中段變焦夠用
4. marco 0.35米 要求唔高的話 都可以接受

1. 得f4~f.5.6 好唔夠用
2. 17mm有黑角問題
3. 85mm時只有f5.6，打散唔到背景
4. 較重，但可接受
5. 又貴 不值價

整體而言，此鏡不過不失，在kit 鏡中也說不錯，要求不高的朋友大可一試..

Very fast focus (thanks to USM);
Very effective IS;
Resolution and sharpness at the range of 40 to 70mm are quite good

Heavy CA at 17mm (the weakest point of this lens);
Zoom ring not smooth;
Relatively expensive

It's a good walk-around lens with versatile zoom range plus USM and IS. I believe the major drawback of this lens is the poor optical performance at the wide angle side. For those who seldom use 17mm, this lens would still be an okay walk-around kit lens provided that you are willing to pay more for the sake of USM and IS.

IS, good range, solid build, no rotating element

Poor optical quality, especially wide open, serious CA and geometric distortion observed; very expensive considering its image quality

It is a good work-around lens if you don't put too much expectation on the image quality; at 4k it should demonstate much better optical quality than the kit one.......
