跟N/C的大三元變焦鏡一樣, 此鏡也是12-40mm(等距24-80mm) f/2.8恆定鏡.
從來大三元都只能由該焦段質素最好的鏡來擔任, 而此鏡亳無疑問有這個資格.
對焦速度極高, 同時迷焦情況很少. 成像銳利發色自然.
有人說貴, 但其實考慮到它的質素後, 真的不貴了.

內部膠結構，據聞

好sharp. 日頭對焦極快，影快相無難度。

- 風景焦距12-25mm, 全開光圈F2.8. 成像極佳, 比定焦有過之而冇不及.
- 對焦極怏
- 最近20cm對焦(距離機身), 放大率高
- 相等於24mm-80mm焦距, 一般旅遊及生活照夠用

- 遠端40mm銳利度相對並不出色, 但絕對夠用

以變焦鏡頭來說, 成像難以挑剔. 基本上是定焦質素, 變焦的方便.
一支相等於24mm-80mm焦距的恆定2.8, 重量是合理的大.
其實現在的M43和很多APS-C單反的質素是差不多. 樓下果個認為要求質素一定要用單反是過時的唸法.
當然每個系統都有自己的好處. 單反有單反的好. FF有獨特的立體感和成像.
M43則是質素和體積的平行. M43有很多鏡頭都很輕細, 當然有人認為此鏡比較大. 但我個人覺得以此鏡的質素及Spec, 重量是合理的.

想要輕便先用M4/3... 但又出支咁重o既鏡...
如果想要好質素, 唔介意重量... 我點解唔用返單反, 質素仲會好d又平d...
只可以話比多個選擇比用家...

1. The wide open resolution is astonishing. From 12-30mm, the center resolution peaks at wide open, you will only get a little bit more at the corners if you stop down a little bit. And the peak resolution is comparable to the famed 20.7, a little bit crazy, probably due to the 9 special elements, in which the lenses just have 14 elements in total.... I'm surprised many test shots in dcfever @ F/8, it's not the sweet spot for m43 lenses. Except the need of field depth, it is not necessary to stop it down. I enjoy to shot at wide open, as I always do on 20.7/45.8.
2. Solid build. Though some rumors on web claims it broke once it drops on floor... come on... I'm not going to drop any lenses and expect it even not get a single scratch. And it's weather proof.
3. Finally comes with a hood and a great finishing lens cap (Kind of advantages..... but I do agree OM should comes with a hood for all the lenses, especially for the little premium price point)
4. Close focusing is very great!
5. AF is silent and instantly fast.
6. The coating doing good against the bright.
7. Yeah, the extra customizable L-Fn button (For OM bodies only? I'm not sure if it works for pana, as I'm using E-P5)

1. As others said, a bit heavier than 12-35 and other m43 lenses. The size is big but still in my expectation.
2. A little bit pricey (but it worths every penny spent)
3. At 40mm the resolution drops a bit and not as good as 45.8 (sorry I know I should not compare a zoom with a prime), and not as good as 12-35 @35. However 12-40 @ 35mm performance is still closed to 12-35 @35. And don't get me wrong, the resolution is good enough, especially when you don't want to be killed by your another half due to every shots show the skin defects of her (kidding :P )
4. Related to pt 3., when shot at 12-25 wide open, I tune down the sharpness a bit for portrait. No kidding, especially you know OM jpg engine tends to tune up the sharpness a little bit.
5. Doesn't come w/ OIS when you're using Panasonic body.

Bought it in urgent for my friend's wedding and the just following trip. I took over 1000 shots on the first day and so put it into a test in many different conditions. All in all I like the lenses, it is excellent especially works with OM bodies.

較12-35mm重

在一般M43鏡來講算比較重，不過要留意哩支係恆定變焦鏡，以M43來講哩個體積重量係合理，之前用開EF 24-70mm 2.8L 的我非常明白這點。

1. It is astonishing to have 9 pieces of “special glasses’ in the lens construction, the image quality of this new 12-40 f2.8 is very sharp even stop at f2.8. Bokeh is beautiful at f2.8
2. Ultra fast and completely silent auto focus. From my test, it has never missed the job.
3. Shortest focusing distance is only around 10 cm (20cm from image plane) from the front element to the subject that makes it as a great semi-macro lens. This shortest distance applies to all focal length. What’s a fantastic and versatile design!
4. Worth-to-mention features include AF/MF switching clutch design and auto-focus stop button

2. Size is inevitably larger than other M4/3 lenses

Prime lens quality but zoom lens flexibility, a perfect match for EM1.
