The 2021 Kriegsheimer Rosengarten Spätburgunder WongAmat is from a south-sloping site on red colored loam with lots of gravels. The vines were planted in 2002 (massal selections of Très Fin clones 115, 667 and 777), handpicked and fermented with 30% whole clusters in stainless steel. Aged in 30% new and 70% used barriques, the wine opens with a pure, refined, charming, fruit-intense and cherry-scented bouquet with good intensity and well-integrated toast aromas. Lush and silky on the palate, with very fine tannins, remarkable salinity and refreshing mineral tension and vitality, this is a tight but also juicy, fresh and very finessed Pinot Noir with a very good finish. This is an excellent red wine from a promising Pinot Noir talent with Thai roots. 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2023.
