My dream camera for a long time

At last can find a used in perfect condition, no problem until now, looks like new with less than 200 shutter counts, full acessaries : original shutter button, metal hand grip with leather fingers grip, leather half case, leather strip and all boxes like new. Leica gave me one year full warrantee too.

二手價位二萬蚊左右，如果未玩過Leica嘅M系數碼相機，揀M240其實都幾好。唯一不滿意就係個屏幕，睇playback以為張相平平無奇，但係當導入電腦/iPhone之後，先發覺M系嘅直出真係好靚、好有質感。不過RF相機唔係人人都啱玩，特別係而家各種黑科技當道，玩得M機真係要沉下心來。
2020年抵玩LEICA之作
優點:
造工及手感紥實，全銅打造，黑機用耐咗露銅超型仔，而且依家萬八至兩萬有部新淨二手，LEICA M機唯一240有得拍片，有電影味，有兩個菲林模擬及一個黑白mod,(M10冇咗，只有黑白)唔係成日開LIVE VIEW 電量非常耐用
缺點:
可用ISO最高1600，再高就好似電視有雪花咁，機身太厚及重(同M10比)，快門未算好輕

已停產，基本上只有二手，所以240我都係入二手，因為入手咗M10P後都係覺得240比較重LEICA味(菲林味)，由其240白平衡偏黃，用老鏡偏色更出所以更有味道，但用240我覺得有支F1.4 比較好，因為夜晚用1600條街暗少少用2光圈鏡嘅入光量真係唔夠用，因為summicron真係好細支

優點:
M機著重Quality多於Quantity, 每按下ㄧ次快門，我覺得出泥嘅作品同自己有好强烈嘅聯繫感。
Spec會outdate，但品味長存。

有人話佢只有MF，連拍慢，厚左，冇wifi，ISO 100 起跳，spec 差，貴，配件貴，難用，CMOS差過CCD等等.....
用車嘅角度講，冇理由投訴一架棍波林寶冇最高級嘅音響，食油，冇7座位，body kits貴，換咗新engine，等等。
M機M鏡係有性格有脾氣嘅時光停留器，要花心機同時間去培養摸索。

小弟年資尚淺，由M43上A7，再去Q + XT2，一年後失守上M+ rx100。呢段期間試過唔同大小廠家嘅器材。雖然功夫未夠老練，但慢慢開始有d心得。
唔計銀彈問題，每一次轉會/機都希望器材功效上有提昇去拍攝唔同題材。
儘管M43, A7, XT2, Q, Rx100 各有長短處，但冇一部比到用RF +慢慢諗先噤shutter 果種Raw 嘅樂趣。

Dirt on sensor and servicing.
缺點:
Black spots were find on on photos with smaller aparture. It is unable to clean up. In the Leica users Forum, it tells it is a very common problem for Leica digital camera.
Quote from the Leica agent, products including camera and lenses are required to send back to Germany for servicing. Extra mailing cost and expensive service cost are faced. Also, it will take minimum over three months for the delivery.

No other choice, may be sent back to Leica to do the servicing after I buy the next body.

優點:
1. 新 firmware 下, auto whitebalance 準過 Canon.

I have been using DSLR for 20 years but it takes me only 2 months to change to rangefinder camera just because of its compact light weight design as well as the extremely attractive images that it has captured. The images that are captured with this camera and lenses are sharp, contrasty and has the most extreme 3D separation that I have never seen by using my previous DSLR equipment.
Given the newly added feature (such as live view, high ISO capability and longer battery life by using CMOS sensor), it makes this camera more compatable with the convenience provided by DSLR system.
I don't mind to use manual setting to shoot photos as I always use manual mode even with my previous DSLR system. The only feature that takes me some time to get used to is the manual focusing feature in rangefinder camera. However, this is not a new thing to me because my first SLR camera is Nikon FM which is also using manual focus, although that was a recall of memory for more than 20 years.
The last but most important point to mention is that this is a camera which provides me lots of mobilty (with comfort) of carrying the camera all the time. In the past, when I'm travelling, the DSLR system is so heavy and bulky to bring it around for traval or sightseeing. I have tried to replace the DSLR with some compact DC, but have to sacrify the qualtiy of image. Now with this camera system, I can travel with just 1 small camera (with a 35mm or 50mm lens) and travel anywhere, anytime and take high quality picture.
This is the best photo taking experience that I ever have.

3) I was told by the dealer not to use the neck strap which comes with the camera or I may risk scratching the body. The strap that comes with the camera is nylon and rubber feel which looks no better than those cheap give away gifts from Broadway Electronics stores. People should deserve better quality strap at this price.
4) Lastly, this is an expensive toy.
If you want to argue why not buying other cheaper mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, I can tell you that it is for the lenses, for the rangefinder, for the mechanics, for the FEELing of using a tool with great craftsmanship. I laughed at people paying big money on leica that they are only buying them for the pride. It was until my beloved wife bought me an X1 as a gift. After that, I start to realize that while there are people who are just buying the pride of the ownership, many are not going just for that.
It is addictive in using Leica M. Getting used to it makes you can't go back shooting DSLR anymore. People run into bankruptcy after buying Leica and still saying they have no regret...this is how addictive it is.

It has been a controversial topic in discussion forums why leica switched from CCD to CMOS and I see that a lot of die-hard Leica friends are not happy about the change. After the camera is released to the market, I have been reading different critics from forums around the world, the test results are so far all positive and I can't even recall one which gives negative real-life test critics about the change. The experience from my use is also thumbs up for the new sensor: the 3-D pop, true to life color, high ISO low noise performance are all there. It also allows a much longer battery life with CMOS. People used to complain that they have to do much tuning on face color when they use M9, but I can tell you this is no longer the case for M240. I don't even have to bother adjusting face colors from all my color shots. I don't really understand why people are still obsess to CCD to think that is a must...chances is that they have never really used the new camera before they comment on it.
I've found myself using the camera frequently for avaliable light photography with ISO at 3200 and it is still giving me good usable color prints. It is definitely not a problem if I am shooting B&W. The resulted files are also more "forgiving" in terms of exposure, or in other words giving a more dynamic range for me to adjust in Light Room afterwards. This is important when one needs to rescue any otherwise could have missed shots.
The shutter is responsive and quiet. It lags a bit for the next shot when the live view review is on, this is why I used to disable photo reviews or I would not live view at all. It is not an issue any more after that.
The auto white balance of Leica is not as adaptive as expected. It is still recommended for one to manual adjust the WB if needs to take it at the right temperature for many indoors shots. For people like me who always shoot in RAW, this is not a hugh issue unless I have to show people my shots from the camera's display.
The M Type 240 body is solid and it includes many improvements over M9. For example, the additional bump on thumb rest position is a long wished improvement so there's no need to buy any extra thrumb rest for a better grip. The thumb wheel is also located at a convenient location for the thumb to reach. I sometimes find it difficult to trigger the zoom button for live view focusing as the button is at the front of the camera. It is easy to miss or mistakenly press that lens release button (oops!) without looking. There is a workaround option though -- one may choose the setting that any movement on the lens focus ring will trigger the live view zoom on automatically. This is a smart consideration from Leica!
The live view is also a great function when you are using wide angle lenses, such as 21mm which used to require an expensive additiional viewfinder onto the hotshoe whenever the wide angle framing is needed. This is no longer a necessity with the live view. I don't even find it necessary for one to buy any EVF unless one wants to shoot at right-angle or at a very low position.
The rangefinder is as bright as any other leica rangefinder. It is now having this option to set the framelines white or red. This is a great option for me as I used to set it as red for taking B&W and white otherwise. The framelines are also tested to be bright and easy to see, both under strong sunlight and in dark indoors.
I disagree with purists who complain about Leica giving too many functions, such as the movie and live views...etc, with this new camera. If I am paying a premium price for a top of the line camera, I would expect more in case I need it. If you just want to keep everything simple, just disregard these bells and whistles and use the core functions which are what Leica is best at. If one really hates seeing the movie trigger, tape or cover it and tell yourself the function is gone, big deal! For people who are used to AUTO modes from DSLR, once you get used to manual focus and even metering in full manual mode, it gives you the controls which are difficult to find from SLRs and makes you feel that it is YOU but not the camera taking the pictures for you...see the difference?

The camera has free me down to two lenses and a camera body and still delivers quality photos. Without the extra weight, I can also have room to carry other items in my casual shoulder bag.
