評價:
Happy 10 years anniversary to micro four-third system!
In this special anniversary review, I would like to provide some feedback on my very first M43 Lens, the Lumix G 14-45mm F3.5-5.6.
This lens is acquired when I purchased my Lumix G1, the grand daddy of our M43 camera.
The lens superb quality is next to non-existent among all gear.
The lens never fail, never lag, never hesitate for the last 10 years.
It is hard to imagine that japan made instruments can be as durable as the world existed.
Apart from superb build quality, the lens is also renowned for exceptional sharpness as a standard kit lens. It is by far the sharpest kit lens available, and I feel calling it the emperor of all standard kit (標準Kit皇) is not an exaggeration.
One of the most important feature of this zoom lens is its ability to control distortion and provide above average sharpness at all focal length.
While Lumix 14-45mm does not promise best sharpness, it provides above average sharpness at every focal length. Even at 45mm, the sharpness at centre is still preserved. Unlike any other zoom lenses, which optimal image quality only seen at 1 or 2 focal lengths. The low variation in performance thus make this lens a great all-rounf performer in many situations.
The lens also excels in handling image barrel distortion. At 14mm, the lens has distortion lesser than 0.3%, and that value comes close to zero at 45mm. Such features is hardly seen on zoom lens, make this an exceptional.
Vignetting of this lens can be seen 14mm at wide aperture, but only 1/3 -1/2EV darker, so never a big issue to me.
Would I sell off this lens?
Definitely No, why would I sell off something that is literally unbreakable?
How does this compare to 12-50mm EZ?
12-50mm is a multipurpose lens, but it cannot achieve the same IQ as 14-45mm. If you do video often, 12-50 provides better versatility. For stills only user, 14-45mm serves you better.
