4/3 LENS 用戶的曙光

用開4/3, 一直等了又等. E-5 都不太吸引, 差不多想棄用O記, 轉去N記. 因為之前O記高層醜聞, 又知道O記已經無心再放資源在4/3 ...但我有支 Zuiko 12-60mm SWD, 質數甚好, 唔捨得. 但無奈O記無新機支援...四年來於進退兩難之間. 自 E-M5 面世, 開始留意. 知道 E-M5 可用4/3 但A/F support 唔掂, 但堅持相信O記不會殘酷對待4/3 用戶...
E-M1 + MMF-1 + Zuiko 12-60mm , 畫像一流, 需然A/F 始終未去到最快, 但我覺得夠用.
WI-FI function 係賣點, 由其映曝光時, 不用搖控(手機代替), 又可在手機預覽, 非常實用.
總括: 非常滿意.

本人同是CANON 1DX 及 OM E-M1 用家. 用起上來感覺像功能電話 vs 智能電話, 以前我强烈批判EVF不及OVF,今次卻另眼相看,因為EVF提供的資訊是OVF永不可逹成的,特別是測光連動,在EVF已經清楚見到不同部份測光的光暗變化,還有在EVF提供剛拍照的即時REVIEW.另外時滯已大幅改善,在解像度不停提高的將來,EVF取代OVF可謂指日可待.單反就像NOKIA 的功能電話,只滿足現狀的皇者地位,想不到有一天被蘋果創新的智能電話撃倒. 當你想要輕巧是可配上M.ZD鏡頭,相反著重畫質可配上SHG ZD鏡頭,這樣近乎完美的解決方案,本人是挺欣賞OLYMPUS的.

- The weather-proof body is as strong as a tank and comfortable to hold. The ergonomic design is much better than EM5
- The layout of control buttons is well designed.
- All parts are high quality and very solid. Obviously, the camera is built to last.
Speed
- Lightning fast and highly accurate auto focus
- When pairs with the new pro series lens or prime lenses, it completes the focusing nearly at the same time when the shutter button is being pressed down even at rather dark environment
- Extremely quick response, hard to feel any delay in operation
Viewfinder
- Large and smart EVF (with adoptive back light control)
- The large and beautiful EVF does not just benefit the composition, but also great for play back of pictures, not just under the situation of strong sunlight. Through it, the images are so vivid and detail that you will feel seeing a highest quality of slide show
- The 3”LCD screen is one of the best and able to render the true color of the objects, the ambient lighting and atmosphere
Image quality
- On a par with the best APS-C format
- Color and tone are so vivid and vigorous
- Noise is barely seen in normal view even upto ISO6400
Others
- With the unbeatable 5-axis stabilizer, a sharp picture can be easily got even shooting at 1 sec (say a 35mm lens is being used)
- 1/8000 shutter speed that you may use a larger aperture during daytime
- Responsive touch and tilt screen and user-friendly “Super Control Panel”
- Fast and easy manual focus with the help of auto 10X magnification plus peaking focus
12-40 f2.8 Pro Series Lens
- It is astonishing to have 9 pieces of “special glasses’ in the lens construction, the image quality of this new 12-40 f2.8 is very sharp even stop at f2.8.
- Bokeh is beautiful at f2.8
- Ultra fast and completely silent auto focus. From my test, it never has any problem in focusing
- Shortest focusing distance is only around 10 cm (20cm from image plane) from the front element to the subject that makes it as a great semi-macro lens. This shortest distance applies to all focal length. What’s a fantastic and versatile design!
- Worth-to-mention features include AF/MF switching clutch design and auto-focus stop button
- Weather-proof construction and excellent build quality
- With lockable hood provided

- The new set is pricey. Hopefully the price may drop after some days. If you can wait, buy it later.
- It is heavier and bigger than OMD – EM5
- The battery can only last for 500 firing if using EVF mainly. You have to get a spared one for the whole-day shooting
- The built-in wifi can’t work with Samsung Note 3, but no problem with iOS. Weird.

I have sold the EM5 for the EM1. After using it for days, I understand why Olympus keeps selling both EM5 and EM1 at the same time. You definitely won’t be regretful to buy a EM5 especially its price has dropped significantly recently. However, EM1 has everything better than the EM5. The decision will be based on your budget. Due to the size of M4/3 image sensor, the picture quality and noise control of EM1 can’t be comparable with FF format in theory and when viewed in very large printed size or 100% crop. I am just an amateur. As I won’t view pictures as the above mentioned ways and I treasure the light weight of EM1 and M4/3 lenses, I am happy to using it and share photos on social networks without feeling that the image quality would be inferior to those captured by bulkier and heavier DSLR.
